Worker is trapped in machinery

A 45‑year‑old Banbury worker, Rodney Brown, was rescued on Friday after becoming trapped by his legs inside machinery at a concrete plant at Ardley Quarry.

Brown became trapped by his legs while working inside equipment at the Smiths Concrete plant when the machinery unexpectedly started.

He suffered multiple leg injuries and was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital, where his condition was later described as satisfactory.

A fire crew already on-site for unrelated duties initiated the rescue.

They were supported by an ambulance team from Banbury, a hydraulic platform from Oxford, and a rescue tender from Kidlington.
