£4,000 for Children in Need 2007

Once again the residents of Goring and Streatley demonstrated their fantastic generosity by donating nearly £4,000 when Goring’s Fire Fighters set up their annual ‘Children in Need’ river bridge toll.

Donations ranged from a cheque for £100 to a handful of change but all were gratefully received, swiftly counted and bagged and taken directly to HSBC Bank in the High Street. Watch manager, Sean Absolom, said, ‘We really enjoyed the day and were delighted to receive so much money. We are particularly grateful to Michael Novell, Bob Drewitt, Paul Nixon and Kim Absolom who helped us with the collection and to the staff at HSBC Bank. On what was a sunny but cold day we really appreciated the support of the Swan Hotel, the Miller of Mansfield and the Catherine Wheel who very kindly provided us with bacon rolls, coffee and pizza.’
