Commer EUD 999C

Commer EUD 999C Rescue Tender (Known as the can opener) Started life at Kidlington with Oxfordshire County Fire Service.  Later stationed at Slade Park sometime after the 1974 "amalgamation " for a few years.

When it was at the Slade It managed 45 mph flat out until it had a replacement rear axle which gave it decent top speed.

The “can opener “. One of the first vehicles to carry air compressor to power tools for the release of those trapped in vehicles following collisions and was mobilised with Wrt/Wrl which at the time were not upgraded.

In later life it was a hydrant testing van

Oxfordshire Fire Service was the first Brigade in the country to have FIRE on the front of their vehicles, spelt backwards, in Jan 1966.
